Adi Badenhorst Secateurs Red blend 2015 – $19,65. A rich and decadent midweek red.

If you didn’t hear already, I had a lot of fun with the white version of Secateurs, and I must say that red is at least as good, if not better! Super rich and decadent all along, with a strong dark cherry compote character along with a flavorful mint/eucalyptus side that reveals itself mid-palate. The texture is super smooth and the wine drinks very (very) well despite the nice balance of richness, tannins and acidity. One of the best under-20$ reds I’ve sampled in 2017 fo sho – and the fact that I’m making this  statement in December should hint that I clearly hold this South African in very high esteem! I therefore so no choice but to keep on being the Adi Badenhorst fanboy that I have been lately, and I definitely recommend you give it a shot yourself!
