Francis Coppola Diamond Collection Black Label Claret Cabernet-Sauvignon – $25,65. A honestly priced classic cali fruit bomb.

I know the Coppola name probably makes you wonder whether all the hype this wine gets is justified – and I can’t say it is 100%. Still, I thought I’d chime in just to say that this does a fair job at providing the aromas and flavors you’d  expect from a decent cali cab, with tons of black fruit sustained by vanilla and smoky tobacco notes. This is heavy wine that takes no prisoners – and it therefore obviously lacks some finesse and charm to be considered a great wine. Still, this’d pair great with your Thanksgiving turkey or throughout BBQ season if you like bold, intense wines. Though this is not really my cup of tea, I’d say this is pretty honestly priced, which is surprising considering this is a VERY heavily marketed wine… You could definitely do worse!
